Belisario Mata Covarrubias, 69, was born on March 6, 1950 in Tajo Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Luciano and Adela Mata. A gathering of family and friends will take place Wednesday, December 4th, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 9677 Hwy 6, in Navasota. A parish rosary will follow at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am Thursday, December 5th at Christ Our Light Catholic Church with Rev. Elias Lopez as the celebrant. The rite of committal will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Belisario is preceded in death by his parents; Luciano and Adela Mata, brother; Natalio Mata and wife Maria De La Luz, and brother; Domingo Mata. Belisario Mata is survived by his five children; Tino and Priscilla Mata of Navasota, Belisario Mata Jr. and Kristie Mata of Roans Prairie, Jose Mata of Dallas TX, Edgar Mata of Huntsville TX and Maribel Mata of Huntsville TX, along with numerous grandchildren. Belisario Mata was the 5th child of the family. Siblings were the late Domingo Mata and the late Natalio, Graciela Mata of Las Margaritas of Nuevo Leon Mexico, Frances Asevdo of Arizona, and Santos Mata of Dallas, and Luciana Olguin of Navasota TX. Belisario worked at Interstate for 30 years as a furnace operator. He was a dedicated and hard worker. The love for music was a passion of his. He loved to dance, sing and play the accordion. He was always willing to give what he had; he would go out of his way for others. Boxing and baseball were the sports he loved to watch. Belisario will be remembered for being dressed to the T, and his dance moves, and the way he played the accordion.
