Carol Marie Thompson passed away on August 30, 2024 in Kingwood, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents Louis and Anita Skrobarczyk, and her brothers Richard, Joseph, Robert, Mark and Fulton Skrobarczyk.
Carol is survived by her husband Joseph Lee Thompson of 45 years of marriage, son Douglas Thompson, daughter Stephanie Hatfield, brothers James (Lawanda), Louis (Dara), Stephen (Mary), Jerome (Joyce), George and Michael Skrobarczyk, sisters Joan (Bill) Fisher, Catherine (James) Herndon, Elizabeth (Jeff) King and Laura (Jimmy Placker) Skrobarczyk, sister-in-law of deceased brothers, Lois (Richard) and LaDonna (Robert) Skrobarczyk, one grandchild Ava Hatfield, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Carol is the first-born girl of 15 siblings. Her compassionate nature was nurtured by her care of younger brothers and sisters. She attended St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic School in Corpus Christi, St Gertrude’s Catholic School, Gillette Jr High and HM King High School and Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Chemistry and received a Master’s Degree post grad from Texas A&I. She taught biology and chemistry at Richard King High School, Haas Jr High in Corpus Christi, Robstown High School, Flour Bluff High School and Tomball, TX High School. After 30 years of teaching, she retired in 2005.
Carol loved her family above all. She married the love of her life, Joe Lee Thompson, in 1979 at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church, which began a whirlwind of excitement, travel, happy and sad family events, work and play. While working full time, she managed to spoil her family, especially her husband Joe. She loved her jewelry purchased by Joe in Libya and Saudi Arabia and her precious family treasures. She was dedicated to the Virgin Mary and saying the Rosary. She loved nature, music, a good conversation, especially if it included good health and nutrition, religion, current news and family. She loved to read and learn, travel (especially in their RV, which she called her Gypsy Wagon.) She loved to entertain, cook and shop for charming and classy clothes. She planned a trip to Paris in 1998 that is still talked about today. She will truly be missed by all.
