Eddy Michael Johnson, 78, of Spring, TX, peacefully passed away on December 20, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Eddy was born on September 18, 1945 to Harold and Doris
Johnson in Clovis, New Mexico. After Eddy attended Roswell High School, in Roswell, New Mexico, he joined the United States Navy, where he served 10 years with three tours in Vietnam aboard the USS Porterfield, achieving the rank of Storekeeper First Class.
In December of 1964, he met the love of his life, Margaret “Madge” Gonyea in the parking lot of Roswell High School. Eddy and Madge went on to have 5 children, Darren (Sera), Daniele (Andreas), Jennifer (Jason), Sarah (Nicholas), and Micah Dean. He was the loving grandfather to 14 grandchildren, Julia, Elyse (Tyler), Joshua, Ethan, Neo, Mason, Sophia, Madison, Audrey, Amelia, Harvey, Vivian, and Daria, and one great-grandchild Jessie.
After he accepted Jesus into his life, he served in many different capacities in Children and Youth Ministries. Eddy followed his lifelong dream and began his teaching career at the age of 50. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and went on to receive his Master of Arts in Elementary Education. During his first year of teaching, he was honored as a Teacher of the Year. He retired as an elementary school principal in 2014. After retiring, he enjoyed woodworking, building model trains, and spending time with his grandkids.
Eddy devoted his life to his children and their interests by spending years coaching softball, baseball, basketball, and supporting band, cheer, skateboarding, and other numerous activities.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Doris Johnson of Houston Texas, and his brother, Harold Johnson Jr. of Waco, Tx. He is survived by his devoted wife Madge Johnson, his beautiful and loving sisters, Debra (Randy) Ellison of Los Lunas, New Mexico, Pamela Johnson of Tulsa, OK., and his sister-in-law Mary Johnson of Waco, TX. He is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and his Aunt Gwen.
