Irma C. Ortiz Ortega

Mrs. Irma C. Ortiz Ortega Quiceno was born in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico June 6, 1958. At an early age she moved with her mother and siblings to New York City. She graduated from George Washington High School. Upon graduating from high school, she found her passion in helping others. She therefore continued her education with a bachelor’s degree from Audrey Cohen College and a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix. Her career in the medical field spanned more than 30 years. She worked tirelessly to improve health care conditions for all. Her colleagues knew her as a kind soul, always willing to listen and go beyond. Her smile and generous nature made everyone who passed through her doors feel welcome and heard.

Her love of holidays made credit card companies very happy. She had to make sure everyone got something. She also loved feeding people. It was her language of love. As a family, we loved her food. Although, we draw the line with her love for chicken feet, gizzard, mondongo, molleja and basically any limb or internal organ. Cooking was her language of love, but washing the dishes/cleaning the kitchen was our responsibility, especially if it was time for her sacred novelas.

Irma was preceded in death by her parents Irma Cestero and Vicente Ortiz Colon, her brother Vicente Colón Jr. and her son Kelvin Ortega.

She is survived by her husband Juan Quiceno and her stepparents, Ms. Millie Felu Ortiz, Juan and Ines Santiago. Her sisters Ana María, Marien, Sonia and her brother-in-law Rudolph; they will all miss her presence very much. Their children and husbands: Aniela, Raphael and Cara, Aida, Ashley and Cesar will miss their regular calls reminding them to call "THEIR MOTHER". She was a phenomenal grandmother to David, Delvin, Mikael, Nickolai, Crew, Klay, Kwin, Mathayus, Aliana and Violet. She was an amazing aunt to Wilfredo, Madeline, Wilfredo Jr and Natali, Raquel and Elise, Manuel and Sapphire and Liani. She will be greatly missed by her best friend Marilyn, her daughter Jessica, her husband David and their children. Her cousins, family, friends and colleagues will miss her smile. She touched the souls of everyone she met. She left us on March 18, 2025. There are not enough words to describe Irma’s light.

La Sra. Irma C. Ortiz Ortega Quiceno nació en Río Piedras, Puerto Rico el 6 de junio de 1958. A una edad temprana se trasladó con su madre y sus hermanos a la ciudad de Nueva York. Se graduó de la George Washington High School. Al graduarse de la escuela secundaria, encontró su pasión en ayudar a otros. Por lo tanto, continuó su educación con una licenciatura del Audrey Cohen College y una maestría de la Universidad de Phoenix. Su carrera en el campo médico se extendió por más de 30 años. Trabajó incansablemente para mejorar las condiciones de atención médica para todos. Sus colegas la conocían como un alma bondadosa, siempre dispuesta a escuchar e ir más allá. Su sonrisa y su naturaleza generosa hacían que todos los que pasaban por sus puertas se sintieran bienvenidos y escuchados.

Su amor por los días de fiesta hizo muy felices a las compañías de tarjetas de crédito. Ella tenía que asegurarse de que todos tuvieran algo de regalo. También le encantaba alimentar a la gente. Era su lenguaje de amor. Como familia, nos encanta su comida. Aunque, nos trazamos la línea en su amor por las patas de pollo, molleja, sopa de pata de vaca, mondongo y básicamente cualquier extremidad u órgano interno. Cocinar era su lenguaje de amor, pero lavar los platos/ limpiar la cocina era nuestra responsabilidad, especialmente si se trataba de su tiempo para sus sagradas novelas.

Irma fue precedida en la muerte por sus padres Irma Cestero y Vicente Ortiz Colon, su hermano Vicente Colón Jr. y su hijo Kelvin Ortega.

Le sobreviven su marido Juan Quiceno y sus padrastros, la Sra. Millie Felu Ortiz, Juan e Ines Santiago. Sus hermanas Ana María, Marien, Sonia y su cuñado Rudolph; todos extrañarán mucho su presencia. Sus hijos y sus esposos: Aniela, Raphael y Cara, Aida, Ashley y Cesar extrañarán sus llamadas regulares recordándoles que llamen "SU MADRE". Ella fue una abuela fenomenal para David, Delvin, Mikael, Nickolai, Crew, Klay, Kwin, Mathayus, Aliana y Violet. Era una tía increíble para Wilfredo, Madeline, Wilfredo Jr y Natali, Raquel y Elise, Manuel y Sapphire y Liani. Ella será extrañada inmensamente por su mejor amiga Marilyn, su hijada Jessica, su esposo David y sus hijos. Sus primos, familiares, amigos y colegas echarán de menos su sonrisa. Ella tocó el alma de todos los que conoció. Irma nos dejo el 18 de marzo de 2025. No hay suficientes palabras para describir la luz y el gran corazón de Irma.
