April 19, 1935 ~ August 31, 2021Ivy Joyce Lucas was born on April 19, 1935 in San Augustine, Texas. She lived in New Caney, TX and passed away on August 31, 2021. Joyce attended Center High School and then married J.C. Lucas in 1951, and lived in Shelby County, TX where they began their 69-year marriage and family. They had three sons, Jeff, Norman, and Corkey. After moving to Houston then to New Caney, TX Joyce worked in food service at Fonwood Elementary, then worked in office management atSears, then Rusche Oil company of Houston, where she retired from in the late ‘80s. During her retirement she enjoyed gardening in her flower beds, family gatherings, and serving in their hometown church, First Baptist Porter, where she and J.C. were members at over 40 years. Joyce is a spiritual giant that loved and served God, a “Friend to All” that she met; devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to all of her family. She will be sorely missed by all and never forgotten. She is preceded in death by her husband J.C. Lucas, parents Ira Fenley, Effie Mae Ware Fenley, brothers Dub Fenley and Gene Fenley. She is survived by her three sons: Jeffery Lucas and wife Terry, Norman Lucas, and wife Mary, and Corkey Lucas. Sister; Mae Fenley Jernnigan and Jo Fenley Bush. Five grandchildren; Christopher Lucas, Scott Lucas, Jennifer Lucas, Nathan Lucas, and Jessica Lucas. Eleven great grandchildren, and eleven nieces and nephews. A Graveside service will be held 11:30am Saturday September 4, 2021 at White Rock Cemetery 12545 State Highway 7 West, Center, TX 75935.
