Janet Lee Castro

Janet Lee Castro of Navasota, Texas, while surrounded by her loved ones, was peacefully called home to our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

Janet was born January 21, 1955, to father Leonard Jr. and mother Maxine Kroll in Houston, Texas. Janet was the second oldest of four siblings: Kellyane, Clifford, and Randy Sr. The siblings were known to have a strong bond, one built on love, laughter, and shared memories that lasted a lifetime. Whether they were gathered around the family table or supporting each other through life’s challenges, their connection remained unbreakable. Janet cherished the closeness she shared with her brothers and sister, and their presence brought her great joy and comfort throughout her life.

Janet was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, granny, and aunt—roles she embraced wholeheartedly and with immense pride. Her life was deeply centered around her family, and she poured her heart into every relationship. Janet had a special way of bringing people together, and her home was often the heart of countless family gatherings filled with warmth, laughter, and homemade meals. Her joy was contagious, and she had a remarkable ability to turn even the simplest moments into cherished memories.

She adored spending time with her children and grandchildren, and "shopping with her girls" became more than a pastime—it was a treasured tradition filled with laughter, stories, and bonding. She also had a playful side, lighting up whenever she was near a slot machine—always hopeful for that lucky pull.

Janet had an innate ability to connect with others. Her warmth, kindness, and open-hearted spirit left lasting impressions on friends, neighbors, and even those who only met her briefly. Her hospitality and natural sense of inclusion made people feel like family from the moment they walked through her door.

Janet was a diehard fan of the Houston Astros and the Houston Rockets. She cheered on her teams with passion, proudly sporting their colors and keeping up with every game. Sports nights were a big event in her home, often shared with loved ones and accompanied by her lively commentary and infectious energy.

In 2017, Janet retired from NOV Grant Prideco after an impressive 26 years of dedicated service. Her work ethic was unmatched, and she was known by her colleagues for her reliability, integrity, and good-natured personality. Even in her professional life, Janet built lasting friendships and left a legacy of kindness and loyalty.

Janet is survived by her loving husband of 48 years Rudy Castro. Daughters: Tracey Castro-Hall (Lance), Hollie Flores (David Sr.), and Jennie Castro (Michel Williams). Siblings: Randy Kroll Sr. (Sharon) and Kelleyane Ketkoski (Jake). Grandchildren: David Flores Jr. (Tatum Miller), Kaylei Mallard (Quantavius Moore), Sammy Mallard Jr. (Sarah Mallard), and Ava Flores. Great-grandchildren: Kaislyn Moore, Taylen Moore, and Nevaeh Mallard.

She is preceded in death by her father Leonard Kroll Jr., mother Maxine Kroll, and brother Clifford Kroll.

Serving as pallbearers: David Flores Jr., Sammy Mallard Jr., Jeffery Ketkoski, Darrell Lovings, Jonathan Castro, Jessie Soto, Randy Kroll Jr. and Michael Williams.
