Jesse Burlen Skinner

Jesse Burlen Skinner, 89, of Spring, Texas died Sunday, February 23, 2025, where they lived for 46 years. He was born on January 16, 1936, in Corrigan, Texas, to the late Bethel Skinner and Lela Loving Skinner. He was an Elevator Repair and Service Mechanic and a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church.

Survivors: Wife of 62 years, Helen Marie Patek Skinner, Son, Robert Skinner and his spouse Barbara Skinner of Greenville, Daughters, Brenda Parker of Magnolia, and Kimberly Smothers and spouse Jeffery Smothers of Magnolia, 7 grandchildren (7 spouses), 18 great grandchildren, a sister, Barbara Lewing and brother Crosby Skinner and his spouse Gladys, brother in law, Roy Patek and spouse Kay, sisters in law, Evelyn Alexander, Judy Patek, Jannett Patek, Jean Skinner and 21 Nieces/Nephews and their spouses.

 Preceded in death by: Parents, Bethel Skinner and Lela Loving Skinner, Parents in law, Frank Patek and Evelyn Berger Patek, and brothers Charlie Dale Skinner and his spouse Lerlean, Raymond Skinner and his spouse Cynthia and Jerry Skinner, Sister-in-Law, Bernice Patek, Brothers in Law, Ervin Patek, Franky Patek, and William (Bill) Patek.

 Tribute to Jesse Burlen Skinner

 A beloved Spouse and Father, Jesse Burlen Skinner was born January 16, 1936. He was the third of six children. He was married on February 16,1963 to the love of his life, Helen Marie Patek. They had 3 children they raised to adulthood. He was a hard worker; besides raising his children, he worked for Houston Elevator and Dover Elevator companies. He joined the union as a helper and worked his way up as a Repair and Service Elevator Mechanic for approximately 37 years.

WORDS TO DESCRIBE JESSE

Words of LOVING REMEMBRANCE: Caring, Giving, Patient, Awesome, Generous, Friendly, Understanding, Warm, and Loving all words once used to describe his mother-in-law. It’s no wonder he got along so well with her and his wife, Helen, his children and spouses, his siblings, in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Many years of gathering with friends and relatives especially a handful of cousins and their spouses.

Words of POWER: Loyal, Strong, Hard Working – He was a “Jack of all Trades”. He could mend, build, repair, or fix anything and never hesitated to teach anyone how to help or do things.

Words that made him UNIQUE IN HIS OWN WAY: Friendly - A Friend to All, he never knew an Enemy, Kind and Compassionate and a great friend to many.

 He made friends wherever he went. Jesse never met a stranger. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, teaching his children, grandchildren and a few older great grandchildren how to handle a gun, how to hunt and the proper way to clean and process the game. He really enjoyed watching all the young great grandchildren running, playing and building forts in the woods. He loved being at Shiloh with his family. He loved the great outdoors and enjoyed playing dominos - moon with his children. Drinking coffee and watching nature. He enjoyed time with all his neighbors. One of his good friends and neighbor, Luis Stuart, where they fished, visited and made Mayhaw jelly. He loved meeting people, especially time with his friends at Dean Creek Hunting Club. To quote a club member “He was the Heart and Soul of the place. He was always happy there and would help anybody in any way. Happy memories shared over many years.”

 Today, his family consist of 3 children (Robert Skinner, Brenda Parker, and Kim Smothers), 2 spouses (Barbara Skinner and Jeffery Smothers), 7 grandchildren (Jessica Townsend, Steven Skinner, Douglas Skinner, Richard Parker, Casey Parker, Ashley Sandlin and Celcie Lightfoot, 7 spouses (Nathan Townsend, Sydni Johnson Skinner, Tess Knudson Skinner, Amber Worley Parker, Christen Gisclair, Curtis Sandlin and Jessie Lightfoot), and 18 great grandchildren (Peyton Townsend, Elodie Johnson, Stella Johnson, Caroline Johnson, Sawyer Skinner, Sophie Skinner, Aislinn Parker, Rhylinn Parker, Emma Parker, Jaxson Parker, Lucas Parker, Aria Lopez, Oliver Lope, Caiden Sandlin, Carson Sandlin, Callen Sandlin, Mia Lightfoot and Holden Lightfoot). A Uncle to so many nephews and nieces. 

 An amazing Legacy and so many wonderful memories that have and will continue to be shared by so many lives he touched over the years.

Celebration of life will be 3/29/2025 at VFW POST 2427 14408 Alice Rd. Tomball Tx 77377 from 2-6 pm Food, drinks, beer.
