Conroe, Texas

Larry Wayne Lind, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away January 12th, 2025, with family by his side, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, hard work, and love for his family. He was born in Emporia, Kansas to James Everett Lind and Nettie “Jerry” Lind. Larry grew up on the family farm in Emporia, where he developed a deep connection to nature that would last throughout his life. He went on to attend Kansas State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in geophysics.

A Vietnam-era veteran, Larry’s service took him to some of the most remote and challenging environments on Earth. He spent time in Antarctica, where he lived in tunnels beneath the ice, drilling into glaciers and conducting vital research on the frozen continent.

Larry began his career in the oil & gas industry with Mobil Oil Company in 1964, where he worked for 14 years. Larry became a proud business owner, founding a successful seismic company where he took great pride in oil & gas exploration. His dedication to his career was unmatched, always striving for excellence and staying busy with new opportunities.

Larry’s love for the outdoors was matched only by his devotion to his family. He enjoyed hunting, spending time with his dogs, and relishing moments with his loved ones. He was always the first to lend a hand or offer a listening ear.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Lind, and his four children: James Lind, Jason Lind and wife Kathryn Lind, Jeremy Lind and wife Olivia Lind, and Melissa Nix. He was a proud grandfather to Owen Lind, Kayleigh Lind, Ozetta “Ozzy” Nix, and Caitlin Gonzalez, and was blessed with a great-grandchild, Stella Gonzalez. Larry will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Larry’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who were touched by his unwavering commitment to his work and those he loved. Always knowing how to work hard, look on the bright side of life, and keep moving forward through any challenge.
