Michael O’Hala (55), adoring husband to wife Amy O’Hala, loving father of Mikey, Heather and Zack, caring Pop-Pop to Connor and Mackenzie, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023 in Houston, Texas after a courageous battle with cancer.
Michael was born in Middle Township, New Jersey on June 15, 1968 and grew up in the small town of West Wildwood, NJ. He met his childhood sweetheart at 5 years old in Kindergarten in Elementary School where they have been inseparable ever since.
Michael was a man who dedicated his life to service. He was a Veteran. He retired as a soldier (SFC) with the United States Army. He retired from The Atlantic City New Jersey Police Department (610), where he served in several units. He started his police career in West Wildwood, NJ where he became Chief of Police. He worked in Public Works and was also an EMT with the Volunteer Rescue Squad in North Wildwood.
Michael was a humble man. His most proud accomplishment was his Marriage and Family where he strived to be the ultimate role model while always helping others. He had a hard shell with a soft interior. To know him is to Love him.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Amy O’Hala, of 36 years of marriage, Sons Michael C. O’Hala (Rachel), Zachary O’Hala (Mollie), Daughter Heather O’Hala (Rick), his father Carl O’Hala, Sr., Brothers, Charles O’Hala (Dawn) and Carl O’Hala, Jr. (Melissa) and two Grandchildren whom he adored, Connor Gibson and Mackenzie Gibson, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and close friends. He is preceded in death by his Mother Betty O’Hala.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Staff at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas for their compassionate care and support for Michael.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be placed towards A Cancer Foundation of your choice or in Support of a Community Fitness Competition or Event being that Mike had such a passion for all aspects of healthy living throughout his entire life and striving to help others achieve that.
