Raquel was born into a large and loving Catholic family in Houston, Texas, on October 3, 1950. She was a great mother and grandmother and would often say that the greatest loves in her life were her grandchildren. Her favorite hobbies were playing cards with her family, playing slot machines at the casinos, and cheering on “her” Houston Astros. Her love for God, her Catholic faith, and her family are what gave her the strength to continue to battle the many physical struggles she endured over the years. Raquel and her daughter, Josette, shared a special mother-daughter bond like no other. She was blessed to have a loving and dedicated daughter to care for her throughout her later years. Raquel was also blessed to have the love and support from all of her family, especially her sister, Yolanda C. Mendoza and spouse Jesse Mendoza. Josette and Anthony are forever thankful for all of Raquel’s family for supporting her throughout her life.
