Our loving mother and wife, Selestina Soria Leyva (Sele), passed away on April 3rd 2023 at the age of 78. Sele was born on February 3rd, 1945 to Seferina and Lionzo Soria in Río Hondo, Texas. She met the love of her life, Amado Leyva, in Nyssa, Oregon. Sele lived the majority of her life in Montgomery, Texas where she raised her five children and enjoyed the company of many visiting family members throughout the years. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Dalila Leyva.
One of Sele’s hobbies was gardening. She delighted in planting a seed and watching it grow. Sele took great pleasure in purchasing wilted plants and nurturing them back to life. She was a great hostess always welcoming friends and family into her home, and happy to receive guests. Visiting family and friends were sure to wake to the smell of something delicious waiting for them in the kitchen.
Sele was an adventurous person and immensely enjoyed traveling. Whether on road trips, or cruises, trains, or planes, she was always excited to see new places, experience other cultures, and return with treasured memories.
Sele’s greatest love however was her family. She was a devoted wife and loving mother to her five children and twelve grandchildren. Her motherly love extended beyond to include nephews, nieces, and grand-nephews / nieces. She was the foundation of her family through and through; her children were proud to call her mom.
Sele is survived by her husband, Amado Leyva, her children Alejandro Leyva, Hilberto Leyva, Marco Leyva, and Marla Leyva and her grandchildren Amadeus Leyva, Magellen Leyva, Isaac Leyva, Julian Leyva, Augustus Leyva, Xan Leyva, Lauren Leyva, Chloe Leyva, Isabella Leyva, Dax Leyva, Cristian Leyva, and Lela Leyva.
While Sele was a constant source of love for her family and delighted in the birth of each grandchild, the death of her daughter was a loss she bore for many years with grace. Even as her family mourns her death they take great comfort in knowing that Sele is reunited with Dalila, her daughter.
Sele’s family has chosen to designate a day to remember Sele in a way that honors her spirit with a Celebration of Life and Memories Shared
gathering. It will take place at Rios Funeral Directors in Conroe, Texas on Thursday, April 13th from 5 – 8 pm. The following day, April 14th, the family welcomes you to share in a Memorial service to be held at the same location as the Celebration of Life Service.
All family and friends are welcome at both services.
