Shelby Cole III, 71, was born on October 4, 1951 in Blanco, Texas. He passed away on Monday November 28, 2022 in Porter, Texas.
Known as Shelby to many, Buddy to a few close friends and family, Uncle Buddy to many nieces and nephews, Dad to three daughters and finally… Grandpa to ten grandchildren. He led a full life with many who loved him greatly.
One of his favorite things was watching football games. Although any football game would suffice, he particularly loved his Cowboys and The Texas Longhorns. He showed up to every sporting event of his daughter’s, and since he never got a boy, he was super happy one of his girls became a cheerleader, and one joined the marching band, so he could sit in the football stands and enjoy yet another game. Luckily, his daughters made up for the lack of boys by giving him eight grandsons. And just a week before his passing, he was able to enjoy one more live game of one of his grandsons playing linebacker.
He loved a good classic movie or comedy and had way too much fun telling stories of our childhood. He was particularly fond of one-liners and had one of the most infectious laughs you would ever hear. Days with Dad would usually consist of at least one line from the movie Young Frankenstein…. “No Frankensteeen”. You couldn’t ask him what he was up to without hearing how tall he was, and he was always helpful to make sure you never “ran” to the store, but rather drove, so that you wouldn’t be tired.
Shelby was a well-traveled man. With his time working with Oceanearing Metroplex he was able to travel to places like Egypt, Ukraine, Somalia, France, and many other exotic locations.
He is preceded in death by his parents Shelby Cole II & Velma Marie Cole.
Shelby is survived by his daughters Lynn Bazemore & husband Gene, Theresa Dees & husband Jeremy, and Rachel Kingston & husband Tommy, brother Michael Cole, sisters Pamela Self, Carolyn Taylor, Amanda Frazier, and Alesia (Lisa) Humphries, as well as ten grandchildren Jessica, Oliver, William, Shelby, Archer, Tyler, Jayden, Kanin, Levi, and River.
